Leaders in personal care and beauty products including female and male perfumed body sprays, roll-on deodorants, body care, face care, colour cosmetics and liquid fragrances. Well-known brands include Yardley- Bond Street, Gorgeous, Lace, English Blazer and Lenthéric -Hoity Toity, Solo and Masculin. Indigo’s brand portfolio is strengthened via the Coty distributor agreement that includes world-renowned brands such as Rimmel, Exclamation, Adidas, Guess and Sally Hansen.

Exciting opportunities exist for Sales Representatives at Indigo Brands in Inland South (Free State). As the successful incumbent, you will be responsible to build the optimum mutually beneficial business for our company at the department store group.

Key Performance Areas:

Deliver NSV Sales Targets:

  • Achieve NSV sales target by month, per annum for Indigo & Coty Brands. Sales Reps need to be aware of their monthly sales targets and performance to target at all times
  • Maintain Retailer data integrity by spot-checking at least five key physical stock levels against theoretical levels on the system on every call. Following up on stock level discrepancies and ensuring that corrections have been made within a reasonable period of time
  • Achieve 100% of sell in target for Pharmacy on promotions and launches on each Pharmacy transmission date

Deliver shopper service at Retail via Store Consultant and Store Management and develop strong relationships with optimal communication:

  • Hold consultants accountable for communicated required deliverables and results
  • Keep clear, open and complete line of communication with consultants and lead store sales consultants by example, inspiring and coaching
  • Monitor the consultant’s sales performance and motive by praising good performance and helping to rectify weaknesses through coaching and training
  • Build strong business relationships with retail management. Check-in and check-out with Retail store Management on every visit
  • Register consultants and execute allocations and incentive pay-outs on time and according to procedure
  • Complete full standard call tasks and requirements with every call recorded on journey cycle plan, with frequency of call standards stipulated by the company
  • Maintaining an up to date accurate record of the names and job titles of store personnel
  • Discuss store sell through performance with Consultant and Store Management and develop tailor-made plans, in conjunction with Consultant & Store management to address shortfalls in performance
  • Ensure that stockrooms are tidy and orderly and that stock is unpacked within 48 hours of receiving
  • Keep clear, open and complete line of communication with direct line manager, Regional In-Store Marketing Manager and sales team members
  • Keep clear, open and complete line of communication with channel management
  • React urgently to trade queries and follow through to ensure that those queries are resolved / escalated
  • Escalate consultant staff training requirements and store promotion requirements to Regional In-Store Marketing Manager

Deliver Permanent Merchandising and visual standards and prepare new stores for openings:

  • Ensuring correct merchandising in accordance with the corporate requirements of Indigo Brands standards and placing of tester orders as per store requirements and Indigo Brands procedure
  • Complete Permanent Merchandising audit forms for all colour units in the trade that require maintenance or replacement parts and submit to the Permanent Merchandising Department with follow-up to the point of final resolution irrespective of the level at which the problem is finally resolved
  • Permanent Merchandising upgrades to be carried out accurately and timeously in accordance to the published deadlines
  • Working with appropriate store personnel to ensure correct and appropriate layouts in accordance with Indigo Brands standards and expectations
  • Ensuring 100% compliance to Retailer plannogrammed standards
  • Merchandising new stores in accordance with Indigo Brands guidelines prior to the store opening
  • Taking ownership of and resolving new store opening problems relating to Indigo Brands within a reasonable period of time. This involves full liaison with all appropriate internal Indigo staff and contractors to the point of final resolution irrespective of the level at which the problem is finally resolved
  • Attending all new store openings, in uniform, and spend the first day promoting all Indigo Brands

Ensure execution of marketing plans in store:

  • Execute all marketing plans, per door, as instructed in launch/promo schedule and Activation Books correctly and on time
  • Plan in conjunction with the Consultant, frequent mini eventing opportunities to ensure strong sell through on new launches and promotions and ensure that plans have been carried out
  • Liaising with store personnel regarding merchandising and display for promotions and launches. If necessary personally merchandising windows and display areas

Carry out authorised RTV’s in store:

  • Carry out all RTV’s as advised per RTV instructions on time in full and in accordance with correct procedure
  • Ensure that on second call after RTV was completed that process was adhered to and boxes were uplifted
  • Report uncollected RTV status per email to CSC copy RSM
  • Take ownership of and resolving any RTV/collection issues within a reasonable period of time. This involves full liaison with all appropriate internal Indigo staff to the point of final resolution irrespective of the level at which the problem is finally resolved

Control costs and expenses:

  • Plan and work within expense budget, saving costs where possible
  • Plan the month ahead to be as efficient as possible whilst hitting all targets/tasks/stores and submit call cycle plan to RSM for approval and submission on time
  • Execute journey cycle according to plan and provide accurate “actual” cycle report to RSM for approval and submission on time
  • Maintain company vehicle in clean optimum condition and monitor petrol usage and cost

Minimum Requirements:


  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within Retail Health & Beauty Sales
  • 5 years’ experience within the Retail department or H&B Store Management
  • 5 years experience as a Sales Representative/Area Manager in Beauty Industry Company


  • Grade 12 / NQF4
  • Cosmetology/Beauty Therapist Diploma would be advantageous
  • Sales Management Diploma would be advantageous
