GIRLS’ PREPARATORY
Our primary intention is to educate and empower girls, raising
them in ways that are responsive to the challenges unique to
women. We aim to be the leaders in girls’ education, with the
focus on nurturing individual skills and dispositions, equipping
girls to engage confidently and with a sense of purpose. Our
girls work within a values-based framework in order to make
decisions with good intent. The South African context is
diverse and dynamic. We raise girls to embrace their heritage
and collaborate locally to make a significant contribution
nationally and internationally.

Deputy Head – Academics
We are looking to appoint a Deputy Head – Academics who will oversee the academic programme with an emphasis on
the implementation and evaluation of curriculum innovation and reform. The successful applicant will preferably have
experience in working with the unique characteristics of girls’ education in relation to STEAM, and transdisciplinary
Inquiry Based Learning. We are also looking for a candidate with a strong academic background in inclusive education
who will enhance the existing educational rigour of our Academic Support and Extension programmes. A visionary
approach to maintaining the best affordances of online learning is a desirable competence.

Job Requirements
• A suitable professional qualification, preferably post-graduate, and appropriate educational and teaching
experience, particularly in girls’ education
• The ability to foster and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders
• A sound and progressive understanding of the South African curriculum and international trends in
education; a willingness to teach
• An understanding of budget management and financial planning
• A high level of organisational, managerial, administrative and communication skills
• Previous experience in a leadership position within an ISASA school would be advantageous
• A willingness to participate in the broader extra mural programme of the school
• Proof of registration with SACE
• Any staff member working within a school is required to have a sexual offender’s clearance certificate
• A willingness to work within the values, Christian ethos and mission of the College as well to participate in the
broader life of the school
