Job Description

Are you passionate about building online communities and driving reader engagement? Do you believe that meaningful conversations matter?  New Media is looking for a savvy Digital Content Assistant to join our publishing team. You should be a brilliant communicator and organiser with experience working in the corporate environment.


Tasks and duties

 Uploading of articles with images to the various websites

Optimising and compressing images
Uploading and removing of banner material on websites
Uploading of new issues to the websites
Liaise with editors regarding relevant stories to be uploaded to coincide with newsletters/Digimag newsletters
Compiling newsletters/Digimag newsletters/promo mailers from content received and banner material received when booked
Sending out of newsletter/Digimag newsletter/promo mailer “tests” for changes/approvals
Actioning relevant changes to newsletter/Digimag newsletter/promo mailer “tests” if any and if approved to schedule it to go out
Processing stories from the print magazines to be uploaded to all the websites
Supply digital stat reports when requested by advertisers – from the websites and from the newsletters/promo mailers
Prepare reports for digital downloads/reads for ABC purposes
Create and maintain social media platforms by uploading and sharing content where required
Create social media campaigns, with assistance, to boost posts and grow audience
Prepare pop-up mini surveys for the websites, as and when required
Prepare a workflow schedule to ensure that deadlines are met
Any other duties requested by your manager



Post-matric qualification required (e.g. secretarial) or Degree in Publishing or another suitable qualification
1-2 years’ experience in publishing environment
Sound knowledge of the publishing market and environment; Proficient in relevant computer software packages
