                                             ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER

                                                

The position of Environmental Officer is a vacancy that reports into the HOD of Health and Safety at Viking Fishing, Division of Sea Harvest, Table Bay Harbour.

QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

The following competencies are required:

  • An NQF Level 5 or 6 qualification in Environmental Management or Environmental Systems.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Environmental or Environmental, Health and Safety systems.
  • Competent/experience in report writing
  • Previous experience within a Health and Safety Department of a Fishing Industry would be an advantage.
  • Valid Driver’s License

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, develop and control the environmental management plan of the site in accordance applicable legislation and Municipal By Laws (NEMA 107 of 1998 as amended).
  • Ensure environmental compliance to all environmental authorizations, records, permits and licenses.
  • Initiate Environmental Management systems, with the strategic low-carbon objectives of the Group, and monitor implementation compliances.
  • Manage and control procedural administrative requirements, record keeping, and reporting deadlines associated with the functionality.
  • Compile/submit reports and advice the relevant role players/stakeholders on environmental management approaches to the site and the general environment.
