Network Administrator | Houghton, Johannesburg (JB521)
: R600 000 per annum CTC

Bonus: Based on individual and company performance, not a guaranteed bonus

As the Network Administrator you will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the organisations networks (data, voice, text, email, facsimile and image) including resolution of network and server problems, data backup and restore, production of network and server performance statistics, provision of network and server diagnostic information, network and server security, and site surveys. Ensures necessary data protection procedures implemented, including backups, restores and archiving. Undertakes repairs in accordance with organisational policy and standard.

Minimum requirements:

  • Formal Microsoft Certification
  • CCNA (preferred)
  • 5 years experience in desktop support, hardware and networking
  • 5 years experience in managing multiple servers and networks
  • 5 years experience in installation and software support
  • Experience with migration and conversion between different technologies
  • Good knowledge of:
    • Windows 2003 Server and Active Directory; Microsoft Exchange 2003; Network security and Virus protection Windows XP (Networking etc..); Windows 7 (Networking etc.)
    • TCP/IP protocol and related services; Exchange environment, DNS, DHCP
    • WAN Environments
  • Project Management experience and ITIL v3 certification advantageous

Specific requirements:

  • Overtime as required to install and maintain systems
  • Ability to implement formal procedures for increasing network and server availability
  • Reporting


  • Ensure maximum network and server uptime
  • 3rd line technical support
  • Provide accurate and timeous feedback in respect of helpdesk database
  • Maintenance of license registers, asset registers and files pertaining to user profiles and back-up systems
  • Ensure stability and availability of mail and internet connectivity
  • Implementation and support of all networked peripherals
  • Maintain relevant documentation and comply with company policies and procedures
