Key performance areas
1. Recruitment and Retention
a. Timeously attend to patients as referred by support staff;
b. Take History by recording main complaint; assess visual state of patient; conduct vitals including: Temperature,
Blood pressure, Blood Sugar Levels, etc as required for patient health and in line with protocol requirements;
c. Perform phlebotomy if required;
d. Facilitate Urine and sugar testing; Sputum collection, Pap smears, Pregnancy Tests; HIV Testing, as patient
requires ensuring protocol adherence;
e. Refer participants to Medical Officers at VIDA or other as required;
f. Recruit participants according to study inclusion/exclusion criteria
g. Address relevant concerns and misconceptions about the study with participants
h. Establishing a relationship of trust and respect with participants
i. Report on number of participants recruited on daily basis to team leader
2. Administration
a. Ensure that consent forms are accurately completed and signed by all parties
b. File all participant forms according to the study requirements (alphabetic/numeric order) and ensure all forms
are submitted to the relevant data capturers.
c. Complete source documents according to GCP
d. Update electronic screen logs on a daily basis, copy admission book logs on a daily basis
3. Follow up’s
a. Call participants to complete 90 days and 180 days follow up questionnaires
b. Perform home visits on participants who tested COVID positive and needed to isolate.
c. Follow up on missed visits and complete the necessary feedback logs
Required minimum education and training
Registered Nurse with Primary Health Care qualification and experience
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities
GCP Training
Computer literacy, including use of Microsoft (MS) Word and MS Excel beneficial
Attention to detail, enthusiastic, hard-working and diligent.
The ability to work independently
Good interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to work in a team essential
Fluency in at least one local language other than English essential
Valid Drivers Licence
Able to work late and travel, may need to lift boxes.
Have good leadership qualities.
Train and mentor junior enrolled nurses
