The National Arts Council of South Africa is looking to attract dynamic, passionate and innovative self-starters with a solid understanding of the Creative Industries Sector for the Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme Project.

REQUIREMENTS (full job specification is available upon request)

The incumbents must have knowledge of the arts, culture and heritage sector in South Africa and grant funding experience. Experience in other government agencies, institutions or departments will also be welcomed. In addition to this, have strong team management and leadership skills, advanced Excel competency and managing large volumes of data. The key responsibilities for this role are planning, execution, time management, documentation management, trouble-shooting, monitoring and evaluation.

  • Control time management;
  • Analyse and manage project risk;
  • Create and update workflows and project plans;
  • Monitor project progress and address potential issues;
  • Manage reports and documentation;
  • Monitor and report on project progress;
  • Prepare and provide documentation to internal teams and key stakeholders;
  • Act as a point of contact for stakeholders;
  • Ensure stakeholder satisfaction;
  • Ensure that governance protocols are adhered to;
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation
  • Sound MS Office Skills (excellent MS Word and MS Excel ability required);
  • At least seven year’s work experience in a project management role;
  • Diploma or degree in a relevant field required;
  • Ability to work long and late hours for the duration of the project

Review, Monitoring and Evaluation Officers

The incumbents must have strong knowledge of the arts, culture and heritage sector in South Africa and grant funding experience. We also welcome experience in other government departments, entities or public institutions. The key responsibilities for this role include project application review, project monitoring and evaluation. In addition to this, the successful incumbent must have excellent command of the English language, be detail orientated and have excellent report writing skills, advanced Excel competency and managing large volumes of data.  

Additional role requirements are:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in the arts, culture and heritage sector in South Africa;
  • Experience in implement Monitoring and Evaluation activities;
  • Ability to effectively communicate the strategic objectives of the project;
  • Develop and foster relationships with stakeholders;
  • Meticulous time management skills;
  • Advanced MS Office Skills (excellent MS Word and MS Excel ability required);
  • Proficiency in more than one of the official South African languages;
  • Ability to make sound decisions timeously;
  • Strategic thinking and data analysis;
  • Scheduling regular meetings and recording decisions (Excellent command of written and spoken English required);
  • Prepare and provide documentation to internal teams and key stakeholders;
  • At least three year’s work experience in a project administrator, project coordinator or similar role;
  • Diploma or degree in a relevant field is required;
  • Ability to work long and late hours for the duration of the project;
