Job Description

Main Purpose: To pursue and manage outage opportunities with leadership and oversight of outage planning, preparation and implementation of a sales focused strategy.

 

Key Performance Areas:

  • Direct engagement with the Client Outage Planners, Managers, Co-ordinators and procurement personnel from end customer sites to drive outage certainty.
  • Work with the Client’s outage schedule both internally (Trading, Workshop and Field Service) and externally (customer facing) to ensure the shutdown and turn-around (STO) opportunities are planned timeously, adequately scoped and long lead items procured well in advance in order to grow sales and increase Client dependence on a quality service.
  • Actively engage with customers and implement the Emerson seven step STO process to ensure scoping, walk downs, planning, execution and expediting are timely delivered.
  • Be focused on the Fisher installed base and improve or advise client to procure the necessary spares for the upcoming outages.
  • Generate competitive, optimised quotations without unnecessarily sacrificing margin.
  • Engage with the internal sales team as well as Workshop and Field Services to maximize opportunities.
  • Engage with the customer before the outage is executed and to align with their expectations and KPI’s.
  • Schedule and participate in walk downs to define and maximize the scope of work.
  • Build a database/valve list for each power station.
  • Create and maintain a site account profile for each station. This profile will include the Emerson installed base, competitor installed base, orders received and analysis of forecasted customer spend.
  • Maintain a key contact list.
  • Manage the customer account plan on CRM for STO related activities.
  • Conduct ‘lessons learned’ reviews as part of post STO evaluation to provide improvements on performance, QHSE and shared success stories.
  • Keep a record of opportunities in the pipeline.
  • Promote the installed base for the DVC digital monitoring. In addition, promote the product range during the STO scoping and the company capabilities and services.
  • Work with service operations to ensure necessary infrastructure is in place where relevant or design and focus pursuits on parts/obsolescence/spare parts management etc., where service infrastructure not in place.
  • The role will involve engagement with outage management, Turnaround Leaders and STO Planners from the end customer sites to drive STO certainty.
  • Generate reports for senior management.
  • Any other job related duties as required from time to time.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Qualified Artisan and/or National Diploma (Mechanical/Electrical/C&I) and/or BTech. (Mechanical/Electrical/C&I) or equivalent.
  • 5 Years’ experience in the power process instrument industry.
  • 2 Years’ experience in an active management and sales position.
  • STO management experience will be a distinct advantage.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety design codes and standards, especially OHSAct and related PER.
  • Knowledge of industry, client specifications and requirements.
  • Intimate knowledge of isolation, flow control valves, pressure relief and safety relief valves inclusive of actuators and indicators.
  • Working knowledge of Control and Instrumentation processes, specifications and protocols.
  • Understand formal tender processes.
  • Understand team dynamics.
  • Understand the role of formal reports of presentation tools.
  • Able to read an outage schedule and develop an action plan to support the client with advanced planning, especially procurement of long-lead items.
  • Understand workshop and field services capability and capacity in order to sell these organisational competencies as part of the STO management process.
  • Computer literate (MS Office).
