Sessional Rooms Receptionist
A vacancy exists for a Receptionist – Sessional Rooms, based at the Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital reporting to Sadia DesaiFinance ManagerThe successful candidate will be responsible for the admission of patients in sessional rooms and ensure that patients have approved authorisation.
Critical Outputs
  • Carrying out Admission duties
  • Managing the sessional rooms in a professional way.
  • Determine the need of pre-admissions clinic for patients, doctors and pre-authorisation.
  • Assist with completion of documentation for medical aid authorisation – coding procedures and diagnosis.
  • Assist with doctor accounts.
  • Assist with patient payments of accounts.
  • Make sure all documents are fully completed with all details (correct details/email address/contact numbers/medical aid info/medical aid and specific plan/reference number.
  • Assist with the ordering of stock.
  • Inform the patient of requirements for hospitalisation
  • Investigate, record and correct customer complaints.
  • Maintain professional appearance both personal and front working area.
  • Courteous, efficient and professional and have a compassion for our patients.
  • Send text message to patients to remind them on theatre bookings and admission date and time.
  • Improve patient satisfaction and patient centricity
  • Individual planning for Sessional Room’s Doctors – Protocol.
  • Communicate changes in theatre times with theatre.
  • Visit all doctors consulting block receptionists at least once a quarter.
  • Marketing of the Pre-Admission Clinic with doctors and patients
  • Be able to self-manage work load, but also work effectively in a team environment
  • Need to be able to perform under pressure
  • In charge of all Sessional Rooms doctors’ theatre lists – send through to theatre in time and communicate changes.
  • Focus on doctor’s receptionists. Keep them informed of any changes at sessional rooms and changes in hospital.
  • Determine the need and wants of our doctors, specialists and patients.
  • Assist specialists with motivation letters to medical aids with X-rays for authorization (if required).
  • Keep updated with medical aid changes and requirements and inform doctors and patients in regards.
  • Assist with lab reports (acquire and reading thereof).
  • Grade 12
  • Experience within a healthcare environment, including people management and customer service experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of admissions procedures
  • Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage
  • Basic understanding of financial principles
  • Computer proficiency
  • comprehensive knowledge of IMEDS and SAP would be an advantage
  • Excellent communication and Interpersonal skills a prerequisite.
  • Experience in dealing with customers.
  • Knowledge of hospital procedures and medical terminology will be advantageous teamwork essential.
  • Available to come to work at short notice
