We combine a unique mix of entrepreneurial local coaches and technology to ignite learning in vulnerable communities. Our Mobile Learning Centres deliver effective foundational numeracy and literacy to vulnerable children from inner city townships to remote rural areas off the electric grid. Our innovative, accountable coaches facilitate active, self-paced, mastery learning in a supported and fun environment enabled by some bespoke technology that delivers engaging content whilst measuring and feeding back on the progress of each learner. Edulution Learning will launch 10 pilot learning centres in Inanda, KZN, township in 2021. seeks to appoint  the IT/technical and administration support officer as we launch our educational technology solution in KZN.


  • Maintain various tech systems that includes a mix of hardware and software: laptops, tablets, charging systems, solar equipment
  • Collaborate with the tech development team to prepare, test and deploy tech systems
  • Develop and refine the systems and processes used in the office and field
  • Lead the tech support operations to ensure minimal downtime at the centres
  • Ensure continuous update of tech documentation
  • Oversee the tech training sessions for inductees into the Edulution Tribe

Office duties:

  • Manage all tech related equipment that are deployed or returned to the office, including documenting and servicing the equipment
  • Interface with the tech development team to recommend, test, implement and monitor changes in the tech systems
  • Develop, update and refine the images (software) used on tablets and laptops
  • Oversee the repair of damaged equipment
  • Identify tech risks at centres and work towards mitigating them
  • Lead the tech support team by managing all tech support issues
  • Ensure each centre is operating with working, reliable equipment at all times
  • Update Tech Training documents and implement tech training during Training Weeks
  • Support the Finance team by collating and uploading invoices to the GIT system
  • Assist with month end processing, reporting and coach monthly meetings
  • Assist with logistical matters e.g. clearing tablets from customs, problem solving logistical challenges and issues

Field duties

  • Travel to Edulution centres to perform servicing of tech equipment, sometimes on short notice. Travel includes both urban and rural settings
  • Perform checks and maintenance at centres to ensure the equipment and systems are in working order, working alongside the Programme Admin team
  • Problem solve tech issues in the field
  • Collect, report and replace faulty equipment as necessary

Other duties:

  • Provide on-going multi-level tech support to coaches at all centres on a regular basis

Professional/technical skills:

  • Working knowledge of computer programming, preferably high level, scripting and/or database languages – preferable competencies are Python, C/ C++, Java, SQL, UNIX or BASH
  • Working knowledge of Accounting Systems, preferably GIT
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite products
  • Some hands-on electrical experience/knowledge


  • Minimum high-school certificate with credits on all subjects, a distinction in Mathematics and science subjects
  • Preferably craft/trade certificate in IT or engineering
  • Current and valid work-related references (minimum 2 individuals
  • Valid driver’s license, preferably motorcycle license. If you do not possess a license, you must obtain license within the first three (3) months of working in Edulution at your own cost
