Applications are invited for the above-mentioned temporary position to be based in Epping (Green Park) , Cape Town. This position will report to the Regional Trade Marketing Manager, Southern Region.


Purpose of the Position

To deliver the Regional Events Strategy and Operational Plan based on National and Regional brand priorities.


Key performance areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Brand building experiences that drive brand awareness and loyalty amongst target customers
  • Planning and managing an event from conception through to staging and ensure that the event delivers against set brand objectives, with a high focus on on-con events
  • Drive ROI
  • Planning and co-ordination of all infrastructures including cold space (fridges) for events.
  • Planning and co-ordinating of Promotional Liquor orders for events.
  • Identify and implement relevant and impactful sponsorship agreements that support delivery of brand and regional objectives
  • Deliver an events plan for brands that meets brand objectives
  • Deliver events volume as per aspirations
  • Targeted consumer base developed and engaged with
  • Contract development and negotiation with relevant stakeholders
  • Asset management and utilization effectiveness in line with brand objectives
  • Sponsorship management and stadium management capability
  • Budget and Event cost management
  • Develop internal and external relationships and networks
  • Develop and champion social meeting and reporting routines driving collaboration and common understanding within Regional Sales teams and brands
  • Conduct gap analysis and attend coaching and up-skilling activities with marketing teams
  • Continuously review Eventing insights and Best in Class innovations
  • Formulate and communicate relevant and meaningful insights for the Brand and Channel team
  • Continuously benchmark Distell promotional effectiveness practices against best in class and competitors


The successful candidate must have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification – degree / diploma
  • 3-5 years FMCG experience with clear Eventing and Consumer Demand Creations experience
  • Proven relationship building and negotiation skills
  • Commercially minded with a clear understanding of ROI requirements
  • The ability to work in non-traditional environments, rural areas, urban, semi-urban and Main Market
  • Proven decision making and project management skills
  • Must be Creative , innovative and self-driven
  • Computer literacy – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Basic SAP Knowledge
  • Sound presentation skills and time management
  • People management skills and experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good Team player, and ability to build strong relationships and work in cross functional levels
  • Valid Driver’s License and be able to efficiently operate a motor vehicle
  • Willingness to travel frequently and work after hours and weekends
