WordPress Developer Intern

Job description

A 12 month SETA internship exists for a WordPress developer Intern based in Cape Town. For this period the incumbent will join the marketing and e-commerce team and be responsible for ensuring that the e-commerce website is running at optimal performance from a front end and back end perspective.

Key areas of responsibility include:
• Develop and maintain a modern, mobile and user-friendly website using the latest WordPress themes and page builders
• Incorporate technical SEO best practices into the website build
• Design, revise, edit, proofread and optimise web content
• Plan out website tasks and timelines
• Continuous site maintenance (themes and plug-in)
• Troubleshoot and scope out functionality solutions
• Work collaboratively with the design team, broader marketing team and external services
• Consistently deliver work on time
• Work quickly and efficiently without sacrificing attention to detail
• Implement and deliver on feedback from senior management and peers
• Adhere to team processes and standards

Requirements

• Relevant qualifications and portfolio of work, national diploma preferred
• Entry-level WordPress experience
• Back-end development experience
• Front-End WordPress experience
• Familiar with responsive design principles and implementation of responsive best practices for building web and mobile-friendly websites
• Experience with SEO and digital marketing principles
• Team oriented with a proactive mindset
